Hi! I’m Melissa Marsh, the owner of Petit Four Cakes Bakery in Madison Heights, Virgina.
I attended university (three times!) to study literature, so being a professional baker was nowhere on my radar. I started baking to relieve the stress of studying and paper writing. The more I baked, the more adventurous I became in trying new flavors and new recipes. I discovered that most people who don’t like cake mostly just don’t like super sweet frostings, which is how I settled on my meringue-based European buttercreams. They’re smooth and creamy and just sweet enough.
People told me I should sell what I make, but as an English major, I had no idea how to do that.
While I still love to teach, baking became a passion, and my friends and family were willing victims of my taste tests. So I created a business page on Facebook and showed up at the Lynchburg Bridal Expo to see what would happen!
Over five years later, I am booking up my springs, summers, and autumns with weddings, showers, and birthdays. I love to bake, and I am thrilled to create tasty treats for my clients’ special days. My gourmet cupcakes and classic tiered cakes are all frosted with those perfect, silky, gorgeous European buttercreams, and for an extra special touch, you can order some French macarons. Nothing compares to the taste and texture of a freshly made macaron, and once you’ve had one, you’ll probably become as obsessed as I am!
